•Marscon
The author will be attending Marscon in his hometown of Williamsburg, VA from January 14 - 16, 2011. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn Patriot Hotel, 3032 Richmond Road, Williamsburg. I’ll be in the artist/author alley, which is where they put miscellaneous people, I think. Anyway Marscon is a bundle of laughs and I always enjoy it. I will be selling all six Ridan releases of my series as well as the original editions. Come on by and chat. I have nothing special to do there except sip coffee and sell books, but you don’t have to buy to say hello. Marscon’s website: http://www.marscon.net/

My techie son Chris has helped me redesign this website. I like the new look and hope you will too. We’ve simplified things and dropped some old material that we no longer need. Please look over the site and if you have any questions or comments e-mail me, the author, at andrion2@cox.net. Enjoy!

•FantaSci!
On June 26 I attended FantaSci at the Chesapeake Library in Chesapeake, VA. Jim Blanton was our gracious host at this huge, beautiful library which was over-run by fantasy and science fiction crazies for one day. Jim does this all the time and sponsors classic horror films as well, so this library is a lively place. I met many of the usual suspects there including my Ridan publishers Robin and Michael Sullivan, horror writer Tony Ruggiero and a host of others. A good time was had by all!

•Balticon!
I just returned from Balticon at the Marriott in Hunt Valley, Maryland, over the Memorial weekend. Ridan Publishing was there and brought two boxes full of our latest releases, Soldier of the Legion: the Author’s Cut, and March of the Legion: the Author’s Cut. These are re-releases of books one and two of the Soldier of the Legion series. I sold out of book one almost immediately and had to sell the original release thereafter. Balticon was great! I had record sales, participated in three panels, made new friends and contacts, and just had fun. I sat with Michael and Robin Sullivan of Ridan, and with Nathan Lowell, SF author of Quarter Share and a new Ridan author. Nathan is well known for his podio books and judging from his sales, Quarter Share is very popular.
Both Soldier of the Legion: the Author’s Cut and March of the Legion: the Author’s Cut (the new version of The Black March) are now available on both Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com.

•Ridan Publishing Keeping Busy
My publisher Ridan is quite busy working on plans to re-release my first and second books Soldier of the Legion and The Black March, with attractive new covers and a new “look” for the series. These two books should be available for Balticon in late May. Publisher Robin Sullivan is knowledgeable and tireless and her husband Michael is a fantasy author and tremendously talented artist who does the artwork for my series. Ridan can be found at www.ridanpublishing.com .

•Curse of the Legion is now available
Curse of the Legion, the sixth and final book of the Soldier of the Legion series, has been released and is now available. The publisher’s book page for Curse is not yet up but will be shortly. My publisher was with me at Ravencon (see below) so has not yet had time to update the web site but for now you can order the book from Amazon.com (see Overview - Curse at left). Please check the Ridan website regularly for updates. I’m thrilled that my final book in the series is now in print.

•Ravencon!
I attended Ravencon from April 9-11 in Richmond at the Holiday Inn Koger Center. I had a ball and sold a lot of books. My publisher Ridan was there (Robin Sullivan and her author husband Michael Sullivan). They brought with them a book box that contained copies of my latest book Curse of the Legion, hot off the press. We celebrated the fact that Ridan Press has three books that are finalists for the Foreword Magazine 2009 Book of the Year Award - my own Cross of the Legion and Michael Sullivan’s fantasy books Avempartha and Nyphron Rising.
I was in the dealer’s room sitting with my buddy Tony Ruggiero who writes about horror, humor, alien invaders and U.S. government vampires. No, he’s not writing about the IRS - his characters are real vampires and almost as scary, cruel and merciless as IRS agents.
Thanks to all at Ravencon who bought books from the Soldier series.

•Cross is Finalist in Book of the Year Contest
I was recently advised that Cross of the Legion has been selected as a Finalist in ForeWord Review’s 2009 Book of the Year competition in the Science Fiction/Fantasy category. This is a national contest and coming in as a Finalist is considered to be quite a feat. To find out why the judges liked it, buy a copy today. Incidentally, fellow Ridan author Michael Sullivan also came in as a Finalist in the same competition, for two of his recent fantasy works. Ridan Publishing is making a mark in the writing and publishing communities!

•Marscon!
Marscon 2010 is now part of history - January 15 to 17 in Williamsburg, VA. It was a ball and a half. I always have fun there, I was sitting in the Author Alley with my new publisher Robin Sullivan of Ridan and her husband Michael, the fantasy author and artist, and my Con buddy Tony Ruggiero, who does fantasy, horror, vampire and humor stories. I appeared on a few panels and met some new contacts including Chris Berman who also writes science fiction. I sold some books too but mostly just had a good time. Thanks to everyone who organized it!

Cross of the Legion is now available!
Cross of the Legion, Book 5 of the Soldier of the Legion series, is now available for sale online from Ridan Press. The price is a low $10.80 for paperback or $4.33 for a Kindle e-book. I am very happy with Ridan Press, their attention to detail, their emphasis on quality and the speed and efficiency with which they produced this book. • Ridan Press to Publish Book 5.
I will be going with a new publisher to publish Book 5 of the Soldier series, Cross of the Legion. Ridan Press is a new small press formed by Robin Sullivan and I am expecting a good future for them. Robin and her author husband Michael Sullivan are friends of mine from attending several sci-fi conventions together. I’ve decided to go with them for Book 5 and see what happens. I predict good news - Book 5 is still on schedule for January 2010. Ridan is on-line at www.ridanpublishing.com ‘ Please give them a visit.

• MilSciFi.com Author Interview
Following Balticon I was interviewed by MilSciFi.com, which is the brainchild of Mike McPhail. Mike is an old friend, usually to be found at many of the same cons that I attend. He has gathered a constellation of military SF writers on his site, which is well worth a visit - probably several visits. My interview can be found at http://www.milscifi.com/files/inter-MST-SL.htm My thanks to Mike for the interview!

• Balticon!
I spent the weekend of May 22-25 at Balticon 43 in the Marriott Hunt Valley Inn, Maryland. I had a great time, selling books in the dealers room, sitting on a couple of panels, giving a reading and catching up with a lot of old friends. These cons are kind of like Gypsy encampments except the inhabitants split up when they leave and you don’t see then again until the next con, wherever it may be. I sat with Mike and Robin Sullivan, Patrick Thomas, Tony Ruggiero and Tee Morris. We had a ball and a half. I left the con with fewer books than I had when I arrived, and that’s the idea. It was great to run into so many fans there who liked my series. My thanks to everyone who bought the books. I love feedback so please send any comments to andrion2@cox.net if you have time

• RavenCon!
I spent the weekend of April 24-26 at RavenCon in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Richmond VA. This was a fun expedition into a most unlikely realm, inhabited by many crazed, scary and wonderful people. My old friend Tony Ruggiero was the Deputy Chief of Mission for RavenCon and kindly let me share his table in the Dealer’s Room.
The idea for us authors is to leave the convention with less books than we brought to the convention, and I did that. My thanks to everyone who bought books from me. It was great to see so many old friends, and many of us will be meeting again soon at BaltiCon on 22 May.

• XM Radio
The Soldier of the Legion audio is back on XM Radio again, on “Book Radio” Channel 163. The new time schedule is a little hard to read but it looks like they are broadcasting Parts 6-10 from 5:30 to 8 AM Eastern time. That sounds ideal for all you kids who stay up all night, like my youngest son. Happy listening!

Please feel free to visit these sites. I have also set up a BUY NOW Pay Pal button on my website PURCHASE page for the first book to get a signed copy from the author at a bargain price. If this works, I may list all the other books as well.
In addition, I now have the first review for Book 4, Secret of the Legion. Please see REVIEWS - SECRET at left.

• MarsCon!
Your author attended MarsCon from January 16-18 2009 in the Holiday Inn Patriot in Williamsburg, VA. The shipment of my 4th book, Secret of the Legion, arrived just in time for the convention. MarsCon is a sci-fi-fantasy-gaming convention. This year’s theme was Victorian steampunk. The guest artist was Ron Miller who had done the cover of my first book for me when we were both working with Timberwolf Press. We had never actually met in person before so we had a grand old time discussing the past and plotting for the future. These SF conventions are great venues for making useful contacts. Thanks to everyone who bought my books - may the Force be with you!
